On the 27th June 2015 we held our first 24 hour gaming Event “The Genital Games”. This was hosted at Xtreme Gaming in Colchester and was in aid of The Robin Cancer Trust, a local charity that means a lot to us over at Darkworld. The Robin Cancer Trust are dedicated to spreading awareness about Testicular and Ovarian cancer which is most common is 16 – 35 year olds and it is something we really believe needs to be spoken about more in the world. What better way to reach the gaming community than by doing what we all do best.
As this was our first event it gave us the chance to trial ideas and put a group of games to the test. We are happy to say that this was a huge success. Originally split into small teams the players battled it out hard across a number of games to earn points which would then be tallied up for prizes at the end. Players also had multiple consoles setup for single play challenges to add into the mix. Each and every player who came down to join in was amazing and showed full on dedication and made The Genital Games what it was. We are currently planning for the 2016 version of the event and we cannot wait.
We successfully raised over £570 for The Robin Cancer Trust and raised a lot of awareness through social media. This was a starting point for us and we have big plans coming up down the line.
