This is the best news I have heard all day! I have been an avid fan of the Resident Evil series since the beginning and I know that many people have changed their minds over the series through the years due to the different paths that the game has taken but for me each game has been it’s own and sold it well while keeping a very solid story with characters that are impossible to not build up a relationship with, weather you hate them or love them. I will admit that I have always preferred the “Survival Horror” gameplay to the action based but the games in the series that went down the action route did it well.
Masachika Kawata made the announcement today a Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia press conference. It has been confirmed that the title will be a multi-platform release coming to Playstation 3 & 4 and the Xbox 360 and One. No news has been announced of a Nintendo version as of yet.
So far we have been informed that that this title is being developed by the same core team as the previous game but the game will not have Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield as protagonists. Kawata has said that Capcom will be revealing new information about this title next week and a playable demo will be available at this months Tokyo Game show.
According to the trailer on YouTube “This concept teaser trailer portrays the essence of Resident Evil Revelations 2. Hidden secrets beckon to be discovered by anyone with eyes and wits sharp enough to find them.”
Now I have watched this a couple of times and feel that maybe I need to replay Revelations again as I struggled to find much in this trailer except for the TerraSave T-shirt one guy was wearing. I am also pretty sure that early on there is a woman who looks suspiciously like Ada Wong in the background. When you will watch this one thing you will be drawn to is the wrist bands that people are wearing. They look to detect whatever infection is about to be unleashed as green shows no infection but as the trailer moves on some people move to amber to red and we all know what red means… I am a bit curious about the girl casually skipping down the hall with her teddy though with the outbreak beginning all round her. The trailer ends with a nice notice “Evil Is Watching” this again could be a reference to the wristbands.
Resident Evil has come a long way since the original 1996 release that saw me at a very young age ask my dad to stop playing when he first walked around that corner and saw poor Kenneth… I still even to this day also relate the Moonlight Sonata with opening secret doors. As I have previously said there is not a title I have not played for this series and I have also never been let down on what has been brought to the table, each story has had me on the edge of my seat and I have had fear put through me through me by so many enemies and noises such as “S.T.A.R.S” and “The self destruct sequence has been activated…”. Each title has left me wanting to know where the story is going to go an which known characters they will be including. I am still hoping that one day they will bring back good old Barry Burton and Rebecca Chambers.
I for one am very excited to see this release and with the Original Resident Evil also getting revamped again for all current gen consoles it sounds set to be a good Resident Evil year. I will keep you all posted as more new is released.
